We understand that learning to drive can feel overwhelming. That’s why we created this platform – to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible..
This is the final step separating you from your full license - once you are confident enough on your practical driving apply on the eGov site for a practical test. This must be taken with your own vehicle (or one from a driving school) that you are insured under, jsut drive to the MoT where the instructor will meet you.
If you are doing the practical test for a car license the instructor will jump on the seat next to you, if you are being tested for a bike license the instructor will drive just behind you on his own bike. In both cases they will provide instructions for you to follow and evaluate how well you drive, these may include driving around, roundabouts, parking and reversing, etc. The evaluation is quite strict, so we encourage you to take enough practice lessons before applying for the practical test.
Here are some tips for success:
Practice regularly with an instructor familiar with the test routes.
Practice parallel parking, three-point turns, emergency stops, and hill starts until you’re comfortable.
Observe all posted speed limits and adjust for road conditions. Check the speeds while practising - for instance, did you know that Line Wall Road is a 30 kph area?
Aim to cover a variety of driving conditions, including different times of day and weather scenarios.
Use the same car / bike you’ve practiced in for the test if possible.
Adjust your seat and mirrors before starting.
Ensure your seatbelt is fastened and the vehicle is roadworthy.
Ensure you’re comfortable with all controls, including lights, wipers, and indicators.
Use your mirrors frequently to stay aware of surrounding traffic. Check mirrors before signaling, changing speed, or altering direction.
Be mindful of others driving around you. Maintain adequate following distances to allow for safe stopping.
Always come to complete stops at stop signs. That's the one in Winston Churchill avenue, next to the Glacis Kiosk.
Use the indicators when you are changing lanes, parking, in a roundabout, etc. Noone was ever failed for using the indicators too much.
If you’re unsure about an instruction, politely request the examiner to repeat it.
If you make a mistake, stay composed and continue driving carefully.
Do not lane split if you are driving a bike, not because you will fail but because it is easier to just get stuck behind another vehicle. They will not fail for not overtaking.
Keep both hands on the steering wheel / handlebar
Be confident, but not careless. Avoid resting your hand on the gear stick or out the window, you can be a 'bradah' once you get your license
Once the test is complete the instructor will provide you with feedback and, if all goes well, a certificate that demonstrates you have passed the practical test.
